About the test:
Biological age tests measure how old your dog is on the inside. Our Epigenetic Biological Age Test measures a pet’s age on genetic level using what are called “epigenetic markers,” specifically we look at DNA methylation markers.
Epigenetics is an advanced field of biology that studies changes in DNA in order to understand gene expression. Basically, how genes are turned off and on during an animal’s lifetime, including humans. How genes are activated or deactivated can have a big impact on aging and vitality for any animal, including humans!
How is my dog aging? Using a simple saliva sample, our test measures your dog’s “true” or “inner” age.
Our Healthy Aging Report will enable you to monitor your pet’s biological and tell you some unique risk factors to look out for in your pet. It will even help evaluate whether the changes you make (like diet) are having an impact in slowing or accelerating pet aging.
Even better, since biological age is modifiable (compared with years since birth), it’s actionable!
How does it work?
After receiving your kit, collect a cheek swab from your dog and send it back to us. You’ll receive a biological age health report in 4-6 weeks.
